A smoother finish starts with detangled, dry hair. Give the heated brush small, easy sections to work through instead of asking it to tackle knots.
Get to know your exact product
This Digital Hot Straightening Brush is for dry-hair smoothing. Detangle with a regular brush first. Heated bristles are not the tool for working out a stubborn knot.
What it is designed to do
Smooth your hair with a brushing motion using the Cortex Beauty Digital Hot Straightening Brush. The digital temperature display helps you select and repeat the setting that works for your hair. Its brush format is convenient for section-by-section straightening and quick second-day touch-ups.
Open the box and check the pieces
Match the product name, size or color and model/SKU to your order. Check any supplied accessories against the box or packing list. Do not assume that a stand, case, glove, diffuser, comb or refill shown in another tutorial is included with your version. Keep the receipt and packaging while you inspect the product.
Before your first session
Have your supplied manual, a mirror, sectioning clips, a regular detangling brush or comb, and a suitable heat-resistant resting surface ready. Use a heat protectant that is labeled for your planned heat styling; do not assume a Cortex serum is one. Keep your first session unhurried so you can see the controls and keep hot surfaces clear of your skin.
Your first-use walkthrough
- Read the supplied guide and match the model on the tool to this tutorial. Check the cord, plug, housing and styling surface for damage before use.
- Set up on a dry, stable surface away from water. Keep the cord clear of hot surfaces, the counter edge, children and pets.
- Check the rating label against the local supply before plugging in. A plug adapter changes the plug shape, not the voltage.
- Begin with completely dry, gently detangled hair. If using a heat protectant, follow its directions and let the hair dry fully before direct heat touches it.
- Use a regular detangling brush first. Section the hair so each piece can pass through the heated bristles without bunching.
- Switch on, select the lowest suitable setting and wait for the guide’s readiness signal.
- Guide the heated bristles through a small section from near the roots toward the ends, keeping the heated area away from the scalp. Use gentle tension rather than pulling hard.
- Let the section cool and check the result. Reduce section size before considering more heat or repeated passes. Finish the remaining sections the same way.
- Switch off, unplug by holding the plug and let the tool cool completely in a safe place. Store only when cool. Automatic shut-off, where fitted, is a backup rather than your normal finishing step.
Fine, dense, curly or treated hair?
For fine, fragile or color-treated hair, keep heat low where adjustment is available and avoid repeated passes. For dense hair, reduce section size and work in layers before increasing temperature. Curly or coily hair may need more careful detangling and sectioning, not simply maximum heat. If your hair is compromised by bleaching or another service, ask your stylist which heat use is suitable. A fixed-temperature tool is not automatically suitable for every hair condition.
Taking it away with you
Check the voltage and frequency on this exact tool against the destination’s electrical supply. Compact, folding and travel-friendly describe shape, not universal electrical compatibility. A plug adapter does not convert voltage. Ask Cortex if the rating is unclear, and follow the manual’s restrictions on converters. For a cordless tool, check the carrier’s current battery rules before travel. Pack only when fully cool.
When the result needs a little adjusting
My hair still looks frizzy.
Check that it was fully dry and detangled. Try a smaller, thinner section with a gentle, steady movement. Avoid adding more heat to a section that is already dry, rough or stressed.
I see a crease or bend I did not want.
Use a lighter grip and keep the movement continuous. Let the section cool before reassessing it instead of immediately clamping the same spot again.
The tool is pulling.
Stop the pass and release gently. Check for tangles and, once the tool is off and cool, visible residue or damage. Do not keep pulling through resistance.
Clean, cool and put away
Switch off, unplug if corded and let every part cool completely before cleaning. Follow only the user-care steps in your model guide. Do not immerse electrical parts, spray into openings or take the housing apart. Clean vents or a removable filter only as directed; not every filter is washable. Store in a dry place with the cord loosely arranged, not wound tightly around the hot body. Put away cases, covers and folding parts only when the tool has cooled. For rechargeable tools, follow the separate battery-storage instructions.
A few questions before your next use
Match your product by the SKU or model on its label, not just its color. If a tutorial shows different controls, attachments or packaging, pause and check that it is the right version. Your order confirmation helps identify a bundle, but each component still has its own instructions.
Need a hand?
Stop using a tool that sparks, smokes, leaks, repeatedly shuts down, has a damaged cord or becomes unusually hot. Switch off and disconnect power only if safe. Do not open the housing or attempt a repair. For product help, email helpdesk@cortexbeauty.com with your model/SKU, seller, purchase date and a short description. Send a clear label photo once the tool is off and cool, but do not recreate a dangerous fault for a video. Keep your receipt and check the current registration and warranty pages for eligibility and terms.
